BuildABridge - Peder Wiegner, Adam Beach, Megan Tahquette

photo of a demonstration in Palestine

A visit with Peder, Adam & Megan in Jerusalem, on site in the Middle East to shoot a film about the Israeli occupation. They hope to provide a picture of the Palestinians to humanize them and their plight in face of the very unbalanced media picture we typically see in the USA. Peder, Adam & Megan are college Juniors and Seniors with studies in Political Science, Anthropology and Film.

Their project is being supported by BuildABridge International

You can read a description of their project here or read Peder Wiegner's blog, where you can also find out about the film they will release.

For a couple of visuals of what they've seen in the Middle East, check out these videos of a Greek activist being arrested and some Beautiful Dabkeh Dancing.

Audio file

Peder Wiegner comments on his observations of the "Security Wall" dividing Israel and Palestine - and the contradictory evidence of its motivations.
Adam Beach follows up his comments on the links between religion and the mess in the Middle East with his own belief that prophetic faith can provide hope in an otherwise nearly hopeless situation.
I asked Adam Beach about his religious affiliation and he talked about the problems and the promise of that community.
Adam describes one of the times he did feel vulnerable, while part of a demonstration/confrontation over lands the Israelis were confiscating, including a couple of hours of tear gas barrage and rubber bullets.
Megan Tahquette speaks about how her Native American ethnicity has led her to be concerned for the Palestinians.
