Andy Murray

Andy Murray's music has been featured regularly on our Spirit In Action program because his music is steeped in a combination of deep spirit and healing work for the world. Andy has long worked as a teacher of Peace and Conflict studies at Juniata College in Pennsylvania. With a singer/songwriter sideline that has spanned 3 plus decades, Andy has created a lot of wonderful music, much of it originating with his lifelong faith as a member of the Church of the Brethren, one of the historic peace churches.

I had the pleasure as a teen in the late 80s to hear your music. It touched me, and I performed some of the songs in The Livinstone Church of the Brethren, after meeting you several times. Due to a house fire in 2005, my albums and such were destroyed. I was just singing Goodbye still night to my granddaughter. Where can I get the music? I really want her to hear the message in the songs. Full measure man always reminded me of my pap.

I first heard Andy and Terry Murray as an adolescent at ANE District event. I took my children to his 300th CoB anniversary concert. My family has enjoyed his music I have shared his music with many people. I wish I could get more of his music on CDs.

I was touched by Andy's music when he performed once at my Church camp Woodland Altars in SW Ohio during my youth. Though it's been 40yrs since then, I've always been haunted (in a *good way*) by his beautiful music. "Sister Anna Beauty Queen..." Those songs filled my soul.

I grew up spending most of my summers at Woodland Altars. My dad led a group of youth that built the swinging bridge behind the Heritage Lodge. I also grew up listening to Andy and Terry’s albums on vinyl. They also recorded the theme song for National Youth Conference in 1990 “Treasures For the Road” at NYC with ~3500 NYCers. My youth group can be faintly heard on the album at the end of the recording going, “Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh...” My favorite fun song of theirs has always been “The Great Botetourt Bus-Truck Race”.

Thank-you for pressing him to release his music again. I would love to have Cd's of his work. He and Terry have a great message. I was also surprised that he said that his students didn't know he was a musician. He needs to let his light shine. I happened to be looking for Andy Murray music tonight. My aunt Phyllis Miller died today and his song for his aunt was very touching. He has a gift. Thanks again.

A great program. I stumbled on to it by "googling" Andy Murray to see if he had any songs recorded for the internet and found this web-site. I have known Andy and Terry for over over 30 years. I also play the guitar and learned to play in grade school, listened to a lot of Chet Atkins records, and also classical guitarist, Segovia. I'll need to tie into NSR again!
