Many myths, misconceptions, & motivations have kept the USA mired in racism for centuries. Margaret L. Andersen helps move us in productive directions with her new book, Getting Smart About Race: An American Conversation. She is Rosenberg Professor Emerita of Sociology at the University of Delaware, and was chair for many years of the National Advisory Board of Stanford's Center for Comparative Studies of Race and Ethnicity.
