After reading "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" and "Plenty: One Man, One Woman, and a Raucous Year of Eating Locally," I particularly enjoyed Ann Hippensteel's 100 Mile Diet interview. My son did a video last year about eating local for a day in Virginia ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGy5r-2wiO8 ), and it's definitely possible! I'm hooked (well, except for coffee, but at least it's roasted in Virginia). Ann has really thought this through and has some great ideas. I challenge everyone to try this, even a very modified version of this -- like buying some of your food at a farmer's market -- and you'll feel so good, physically and spiritually. (6/26/09)
